Portland Thorns Sign First-Round Draft Pick Reyna Reyes

The Portland Thorns have announced that they have signed their first-round draft pick, Reyna Reyes. The negotiations with the midfielder were delayed due to a preseason injury, but it seems that everything has been sorted out.

Reyes was the 8th overall pick in the NWSL draft earlier this year and is expected to bring great talent to the team. She played college soccer at University of Alabama where she earned many accolades, including SEC Freshman of the Year in 2019.

Thorns Head Coach Mark Parsons spoke highly of Reyes saying, "We are excited to welcome Reyna into our squad. She is an exceptional player with a bright future ahead of her."

Despite her injury during preseason camp which caused some concern among fans and coaches alike, it appears that Reyes has made a full recovery and will be ready for action when called upon by Parsons.

With her signing now official, Reyes joins an already talented roster as the Thorns look to make another run at an NWSL championship this season.
