The Detroit Tigers kicked off their 2023 MLB season on Thursday, March 30th with an opening day game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The game was broadcast live on BSD and fans from both teams were eagerly awaiting the results.
The first inning saw a strong start by both teams as they battled it out to take control of the game. However, it was the Tampa Bay Rays who managed to strike first with a run scored by outfielder Kevin Kiermaier. The score remained 1-0 until the top of the third inning when Detroit Tigers' catcher Grayson Greiner hit a homerun tying up the scoreboard.
Both teams continued to put up an impressive defense throughout most of the game but it wasn't until the bottom of sixth inning that things started heating up again. A double by outfielder Randy Arozarena allowed designated hitter Yoshitomo Tsutsugo to score for another run for Tampa Bay bringing them ahead once again.
Despite valiant efforts by Detroit Tigers pitcher Casey Mize who recorded six strikeouts during his five innings pitched, he ultimately couldn't prevent Rays' players from scoring another two runs during his last inning pitched which led to a final score of 4-1 in favor of Tampa Bay Rays.
Detroit Tigers fans will be disappointed with their team's loss but there is still plenty more games left in this exciting season full of twists and turns.
