According to sources close to the White House, Ivanka Trump is no longer helping her father, President Donald Trump, deal with the ongoing legal and media storm surrounding his alleged affair with adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
"She basically wants a new life," said an anonymous source in an interview with People. "She can't help him now. His help is in the hands of his lawyers and advisers."
Ivanka's absence from her father's legal team comes as no surprise given her public stance on women's issues and sexual harassment allegations. In January 2018, she stated that any man accused of sexual misconduct should be held accountable for their actions.
The news also follows reports that President Trump has been relying heavily on his personal attorney Michael Cohen to handle the situation. Cohen recently admitted to paying Daniels $130,000 out of his own pocket just weeks before the presidential election in order to keep quiet about her alleged affair with Trump.
The president has continued to deny any wrongdoing or knowledge of Cohen’s payment to Daniels despite evidence suggesting otherwise. The situation has only added fuel to already intense scrutiny around possible collusion between Russia and members of the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.
As for Ivanka, it remains unclear what role she will play moving forward as more details emerge about both Stormy Daniels' case and Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in U.S. elections.
Regardless of her involvement, it appears that Ivanka has made a clear decision not to let this particular scandal define either herself or her family going forward - something many Americans will likely applaud given its high stakes consequences for democracy itself.
