Roadside Attractions has acquired the North American rights to the drama "Dreamin' Wild". The film tells the true story of Donnie and Joe Emerson, musician brothers from rural Washington who recorded an album in their family's basement in 1979. The movie stars Academy Award winner Casey Affleck, Noah Jupe and Zooey Deschanel.
According to sources, "Dreamin' Wild" is slated for release in theaters nationwide on August 4th. The acquisition was made by Roadside co-founders Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff.
"We are thrilled to bring this inspiring true story of two brothers pursuing their dreams against all odds to audiences across North America," said Cohen and d’Arbeloff in a joint statement. "Casey Affleck, Noah Jupe, Zooey Deschanel and the entire cast deliver powerful performances that will resonate with viewers."
The film is directed by Bill Pohlad, known for his work on critically acclaimed films such as "The Tree of Life" and "12 Years a Slave". It was produced by Christine Vachon ("Carol", "Still Alice") alongside Aaron L. Gilbert ("Joker", "Fences").
"Dreamin' Wild" tells the story of how Donnie (played by Affleck) convinced his younger brother Joe (Jupe) to record an album together in their basement studio. Despite being isolated from major music centers like Los Angeles or New York City, they managed to create a unique sound that caught the attention of record labels across America.
Deschanel plays Jody Lee Thompson, a music executive who discovered them and helped launch their career. The supporting cast includes Mark Ivanir ("Homeland"), Tom Bower ("Outstanding Performance") and Michael Gaston ("Madam Secretary").
With its all-star cast and compelling narrative about the pursuit of dreams, "Dreamin' Wild" is poised to be a hit with audiences when it hits theaters this August.
