NYPD Orders Full Uniform for Officers as Precautionary Measure Following Trump's Indictment

The New York Police Department (NYPD) has ordered all uniformed members of its force to report in full uniform on Friday morning as a precautionary measure following the indictment of former President Donald Trump. The move comes after a Manhattan grand jury voted on Thursday to indict Trump for his alleged role in paying hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016.

The department, which employs 36,000 officers and 19,000 civilian employees, has asked even detectives who usually dress in plain clothes to wear their full uniform as the city prepares for potential unrest. Steel barricades were erected outside the Manhattan Criminal Court and the Manhattan district attorney’s offices last week amid concerns about potential violence after Trump called on his supporters to protest and “take our nation back” ahead of his indictment.

While there have been no credible threats so far, discussions between the NYPD and the FBI have reportedly focused on the possibility that a criminal charge against Trump may increase threats against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his staff, courthouse security, and possible protests outside of court.

Despite NYC being an extremely liberal area with no protests announced by any conservative groups thus far, law enforcement officials are taking precautions due to concerns over potential violence. The police department has said it will respect people's First Amendment rights but won't tolerate property damage or violence.

Critics say that ordering every officer regardless of rank or assignment to wear their uniform is politically motivated and weaponizes the U.S. justice system. However, authorities maintain they are taking necessary precautions given recent events surrounding this case.

Trump responded to news of his indictment by vowing to defeat Bragg, President Biden "and every last one of these Crooked Democrats." He also released a statement calling it "political persecution" and "election interference at its highest level in history."

The Supreme Court indictment against Trump remains under seal, and it is alleged that he may be facing more than 30 counts related to business fraud. The Twitter account for Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has also reportedly been contacted by Trump's attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment.

The situation remains fluid as authorities continue monitoring potential threats and taking necessary precautions.
