Liberal Activists Criticize CBS's Decision to Interview Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on "60 Minutes"

CBS's decision to interview Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a high-profile MAGA supporter in Congress, has been met with criticism from liberal activists on social media. The official Twitter account for the show posted a preview of the pre-filmed interview, which featured four images of 60 Minutes host Lesley Stahl speaking to Greene in various interview locations.

Other prominent liberals on social media criticized the show for not engaging in any of its controversial interviews, and former CNN and NBC anchor Soledad O'Brien compared Greene to Adolf Hitler in a sarcastic post. MSNBC guest Elie Mystal criticized CBS’ apparent civil treatment of the GOP congresswoman, and liberal commentator Molly Jong-Fast provided her two cents.

NBC News senior Ben Collins brought up one of Greene's comments, asking if he was willing to interview him about his vegetarianism and his love of dogs. Meanwhile, conservatives also criticized CBS for giving airtime to someone they view as controversial.

Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones have called the interview “the type of normalizing that mainstream media did of segregationists” and linked it to an article condemning both Greene and Sen. Tommy Tuberville for using racist rhetoric during campaign events.

Greene has faced criticism in recent years for promoting numerous QAnon conspiracy theories before she took office as well as making derogatory remarks about Muslims, Black Lives Matter activists, feminists or transgender people among others.

The episode is set to air at 7 p.m ET on Sunday night where Leslie Stahl will be interviewing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green while discussing her views on politics amidst other topics including her controversial statements that have caused outrage among many people across America over time.

Some journalists have expressed their concern over this decision by CBS News Program 60 Minutes to interview the controversial Congress member. However, Greene seems to be excited about the opportunity and has described Leslie Stahl as a trailblazer for women in journalism despite their disagreements on certain issues.
