A massive fire broke out in a downtown building early this morning, causing significant damage and forcing residents to evacuate.

According to eyewitnesses, flames were first spotted coming from the third floor of the building at around 2 am. The fire quickly spread throughout the structure, engulfing several floors and sending thick plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.

Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after being alerted to the blaze and worked tirelessly for hours to contain it. Several nearby streets were closed off as crews battled the inferno with hoses and ladder trucks.

Despite their efforts, however, much of the building was left severely damaged by the flames. At least four floors are said to have been completely destroyed by fire while others have sustained significant water damage from firefighting efforts.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the blaze so far. However, many residents who lived in apartments within the building have lost everything they own due to smoke or water damage caused by firefighters' attempts to put out hotspots within their homes.

The cause of this devastating fire is still unknown but an investigation has already begun into what sparked this tragedy.
