A historic building in the downtown area was engulfed by a massive fire early this morning. The blaze started around 2 am on the fourth floor of the building, which houses several offices and apartments.
According to eyewitnesses, flames quickly spread throughout the building, causing thick smoke to billow out into the street. Firefighters arrived at the scene within minutes of receiving an emergency call and immediately began working to contain the fire.
Despite their efforts, it took firefighters over three hours to bring the blaze under control. By that time, much of the structure had been destroyed or severely damaged. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this time.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, officials believe that it may have started due to an electrical fault on one of the upper floors.
In response to this tragedy, city officials have issued a statement expressing their condolences for those affected by this disaster. They also urge residents and business owners in nearby areas to remain vigilant and take extra precautions as investigations continue.
As for now, authorities are focusing on securing any remaining parts of the structure while investigating further into what caused such a catastrophic incident in one of our city's most treasured landmarks.
