The Evolution of Mobile Phones: From DynaTAC 8000X to Voice Isolation on iPhones

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the release of the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, which was hailed as the world's first portable mobile phone. As we look back at its evolution over five decades, it's clear that this device has reshaped industries, culture and our relationships with each other.

The inventor of DynaTAC 8000X, Marty Cooper made history by making the first public call from a cell phone in 1973. Over time, bulky devices have evolved into thinner, faster phones that are now ubiquitous. However, Mr Cooper remains unimpressed with some aspects of modern tech advancements.

While smartphones have become handheld "supercomputers" capable of performing multiple tasks such as recording videos and paying for shopping online, Mr Cooper believes that technology has transformed humanity for the better and will continue to improve human experience.

Despite these improvements in technology features over time like FaceTime or WhatsApp calls introduced Voice Isolation feature previously but now it can be used on standard calls as well. Apple has recently introduced this feature to its iPhone which makes calls clearer by blurring out disruptive background sounds so voices can be heard more clearly.

To switch on Voice Isolated feature while in a call you need to pull down Control Center and tap it after which audio should improve instantly. This development is regarded as noise cancelling headphones for voice calling purposes.

A recent study found that people performed better when their phones were kept away from them while they worked or studied suggesting proximity may subconsciously inhibit checking notifications frequently but digital reminders helped performance freeing up memory space for low-value information storage.
