Three Candidates Vying for Mayor of Philadelphia in Upcoming Primary Elections

The Democrats' mayoral primary on May 16 is fast approaching, and with it comes a diverse range of candidates hoping to secure the position. Among the eleven hopefuls are Rebecca Rhynhart, Derek Green, and Warren Bloom.

Rhynhart has made a name for herself as an advocate for safer and cleaner streets in Philadelphia. Her campaign focuses on common-sense solutions like streeteries or cutting red tape to make starting a new business easier. She is also passionate about public service and has a rescue hound dog named Banjo.

Green is no stranger to politics, having served as an at-large member of City Council for seven years before resigning to run for mayor. He plans to reinstate a sense of security throughout the city while making it easier for businesses to open and stay open by being their best partner in City Hall. Additionally, he aims to address public safety concerns that prevent people from enjoying Center City attractions.

Bloom brings his experience as both a minister and public adjuster into his campaign platform. While he has never won elected office despite running several times (including for state legislature and city commissioner), he holds the record for most fights, wins, and longest period (27 years) as a Philly boxer. His focus lies on enhancing Center City's vibrancy post-pandemic era while improving the quality of life for visitors or residents alike.

As we move closer towards election day, each candidate continues their efforts in campaigning across Philadelphia's neighborhoods with hopes of gaining support from its citizens who will decide which path their city takes next.
