Judge Juan Merchan Warns Trump Against Social Media Posts Amid Hush-Money Prosecution

Judge Juan Merchan, who is poised to preside over the historic alleged hush-money prosecution of former President Donald Trump, has warned Trump to refrain from posting on social media, as it could foment civil unrest. The alert comes after Trump surrendered to authorities in New York City for an arraignment amid legal proceedings over 34 felony charges of falsifying business records, stemming from alleged hush money payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election cycle.

Trump pleaded not guilty while face-to-face with Merchan and his lawyer said that the former president and his wife will be proud of him. Prosecutor Bragg accused Trump and others employed a “catch and kill” scheme to identify, purchase, and bury negative information about him in order boost his electoral prospects during the 2008 presidential election.

A New York judge warned former President Donald Trump not to incite violence or jeopardize anyone's safety or well-being during his arraignment on Tuesday. Prosecutors had accused Trump of making statements that threatened "our city, our justice system, our courts, our office." Merchan's comments came after prosecutor Chris Conroy mentioned some concerning posts by Trump on social media which were connected with outlining the 34 felony charges against him.
