Peter Griffin, a former San Diego Vice Detective, and three codefendants have pleaded guilty to charges related to the operation of five massage businesses in California and Arizona that exploited women for commercial sex. Griffin operated the businesses between 2013 and 2022, using his experience and skills as a law enforcement officer to help them evade authorities.

The illicit establishments were able to thwart regulatory inspections, investigations, and maintain an appearance of legitimacy due largely in part by Griffin's insider knowledge. He also leveraged resources he accessed through his private investigator license which allowed him access information on customers' backgrounds as well as employees on behalf of the illegal operations.

In addition to Peter Griffin's involvement with these criminal enterprises; three other individuals have been charged alongside him: Jane Doe1 (not her real name), John Smith(not his real name)and Mary Johnson(not her real name). All defendants entered pleas of guilt regarding their respective roles within this human trafficking network spanning across two states.

"These crimes are particularly abhorrent given Mr. Griffin’s background," said District Attorney Michael Ramos during a press conference held after announcing the plea deals reached with all involved parties."
