A small, family-owned bakery in the heart of our city has won a prestigious international baking award, putting it firmly on the map as a leading establishment in the world of baked goods.

The announcement was made at the annual International Artisanal Baking Awards (IABA) ceremony held last night in Paris. The judges praised Smith's Family Bakery for their exceptional craftsmanship and innovative approach to creating delicious pastries, breads, and cakes.

Smith's Family Bakery received top honors amongst numerous participants from around the globe who showcased their skills and passion for baking. "We are absolutely thrilled by this recognition," said Emily Smith, co-owner of Smith's Family Bakery alongside her husband John. "Our team works tirelessly to perfect each recipe with love and care."

Established over two decades ago, Smith's Family Bakery is known within our community for its commitment to using only high-quality ingredients sourced from local suppliers. Their dedication to maintaining traditional methods while embracing new techniques has evidently paid off.

"This remarkable achievement is testament not only to Emily and John's tireless efforts but also highlights that small businesses can compete with larger establishments on an international level," remarked Mayor Gregory Johnson during his congratulatory speech at City Hall today.

Customers have flocked to celebrate both online and outside their doors since news broke about Smith's triumph at IABA 2021. Longtime patron Margaret Thompson shared her enthusiasm: "It brings me great joy knowing that my favorite little bakery has now gained worldwide recognition! It couldn't have happened to nicer people."

In addition to winning first place overall, several individual products such as their signature sourdough bread were singled out by judges for special commendation. Aspiring bakers keen on learning more about these award-winning recipes will soon be able stock up on recipe books by Emily herself when they hit shelves later this year.

"It feels surreal," concluded John Smith after the celebrations. "We are eternally grateful to our loyal customers and dedicated staff for their support. This award is not just ours but belongs to the entire community."

With this international accolade now under their belt, Smith's Family Bakery serves as a shining example of what passion, hard work, and dedication can achieve in the small business world.
