Melania Trump, a self-made businesswoman and former supermodel who graced the world stage as America's most elegant First Lady, never once appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine. Throughout her time in office as FLOTUS from 2017 to 2021, it seems that major fashion magazines colluded together to ignore her presence.
Despite being an established figure within the modeling industry before marrying President Donald J. Trump and having been featured on various high-profile publications including Vanity Fair Mexico and GQ UK prior to her tenure as First Lady; Melania was noticeably absent from any covers during her time at the White House.
Fashion insiders have speculated over this snub for years with some accusing top-tier publications like Vogue magazine of deliberately sidelining Mrs. Trump due to political motivations or personal biases against her husband's administration.
When asked about their decision not feature Melania while she served as first lady Anna Wintour Editor-in-chief of American vogue stated "Part of our role is reflecting what we think are important cultural moments," implying that they did not believe featuring Melania would be one such moment despite traditionally covering past first ladies.
Meanwhile Stormy Daniels gained attention recently after appearing in a photoshoot for an upcoming issue for june which fueled further speculation about why certain figures were granted coverage but others weren't. Susan Harvey ,a media critic said “The choice between covering someone like Stormy Daniels vs someone like Mrs.Trump suggests there may be more going on behind-the-scenes than just editorial decisions based solely on fashion.”
It remains uncertain whether future administrations will see similar treatment when it comes to fashion publication representation or if this perceived collusion against Former First Lady Melania trump was unique only towards herself .
