Kansas City has announced the winners of the prestigious 2023 Capstone Awards, which recognize outstanding achievements in office spaces, adaptive reuse projects, mixed-use developments, and architectural design. This year's recipients have made significant contributions to the city's urban landscape with their innovative designs and sustainable development practices.
The award for best office space goes to Spotlight AR 108, a state-of-the-art augmented reality facility that offers cutting-edge technology solutions to its clients. The project was praised for its futuristic design and comfortable work environment.

Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City earned top honors in the category of adaptive reuse with its transformation of an old warehouse into affordable housing units. The organization was lauded not only for creating much-needed homes but also for preserving a piece of local history through thoughtful renovation.

Blume emerged as the winner in the mixed-use category due to its seamless integration of retail shops, eateries, residential apartments and green recreational spaces within one cohesive structure. Designed as an urban oasis amid bustling streetscapes it fosters community interaction while promoting sustainability.

Two exceptional projects shared the spotlight for architectural design: Kansas City Current and 1400KC. Both developments showcased innovative designs that pushed boundaries while prioritizing sustainability.
Kansas City Current, an eco-friendly residential tower, boasts a visually striking façade that incorporates solar panels into its design. "We wanted to create something truly unique," said Emily Williams, lead architect at Green Design Solutions. "It's an honor to be recognized among such esteemed company."
Meanwhile, 1400KC impressed with its adaptive reuse of a historic building in downtown Kansas City. The developers preserved the original structure while adding modern amenities and energy-efficient features. Architect Daniel Adams expressed his gratitude saying, “This award highlights our commitment to preserving heritage through innovation."
The Capstone Awards are known for celebrating excellence in architecture and urban development within Kansas City every year since their inception in 1999.
