The New York Times and Bellingcat journalist Aric Toler identified Jack Douglas Teixeira as the suspected leaker. The documents had spread on pro-Russian Telegram channels, the website 4Chan, and multiple Discord servers. Toler traced the documents to their original source and identified the probable source as a March 4 post of 10 documents to a server dedicated to the Minecraft game.
Teixeira was arrested by FBI in Massachusetts on Thursday and will face federal charges of unlawfully removing classified materials and removing classified material..
