Donald Trump Jr., son of former President Donald Trump, has come to the defense of beer giant Anheuser-Busch amidst a recent wave of criticism sparked by their marketing campaign featuring transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. In an episode of his podcast Triggered on Thursday night, Trump Jr. addressed the backlash that Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch have been facing.
Prominent conservatives have threatened to boycott Bud Light, which is owned by Anheuser-Busch, due to the company's inclusion of Mulvaney in their advertising strategy. However, according to Trump Jr., employees and their PAC (Political Action Committee) contribute around 60 percent toward Republicans.
Trump Jr.'s comments suggested that parent company Anheuser-Busch "doesn't participate in the same leftist nonsense as other big conglomerates." Political analyst and Dillard University Professor Robert Collins further elaborated on this topic during the discussion.
Collins pointed out that every major beer company has some sort of LGBT outreach campaign in place and stated that Anheuser-Busch is "a lot less woke than corporate America."
Newsweek reached out to Donald Trump Jr., but he has yet to comment further on this issue.
In response to growing concerns about political influence over consumer choices, companies like Anheuser-Busch continue navigating complex socio-political landscapes while attempting not only maintain customer loyalty but also demonstrate support for diverse communities across America.
