Georgia Governor Brian Kemp Seeks to Establish New GOP Party

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has recently certified the controversial 2020 Election in Georgia and is now reportedly looking to create a new Republican party aimed at eliminating those who threaten the traditional Good Old Boys within the existing GOP. This move comes as many concerned citizens in Georgia have attended local GOP meetings, seeking to replace both Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

Governor Kemp is said to be planning a divorce from the official state party, encouraging his donors to follow suit. He has already hired veteran staffers to lead this new organization while citing concerns that relying on traditional party infrastructure may not guarantee success in future elections.

During a recent Republican National Committee donor retreat held in Nashville, Gov. Brian Kemp expressed concern over former President Donald Trump's focus on the 2020 election results and how it may adversely affect the GOP moving forward. Instead, he urged fellow Republicans not to "look in the rearview mirror" but rather concentrate their efforts on addressing pressing issues such as high inflation, soaring gas prices, crime rates, and other matters that directly impact everyday Americans.

Kemp also spoke about avoiding distractions with messaging and emphasized focusing on these kitchen table issues ahead of what promises to be an essential election cycle for Republicans leading up to 2024.

In addition, Gov. Brian Kemp took a stance against former President Trump amidst ongoing special counsel probes by the Department of Justice as well as criminal charges filed against him in Manhattan. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) is currently investigating whether Trump attempted interference during calls with Georgian officials where he allegedly requested them "to find" votes necessary for reversing election results.

As preparations for political campaigns ramp up towards 2024 presidential elections draw closer, President Biden has yet formally announce any plans for re-election; however, he has previously indicated intentions of doing so. With Governor Kemp's call for unity within his proposed new GOP party and a focus on the future, it remains to be seen how these developments could reshape the political landscape in Georgia and beyond.
