The company revealed its investigation found that hackers infiltrated its systems around 22 March – giving them nearly nine days before Capita “interrupted” the breach on 31 March. The firm holds £6.5 billion-worth public sector contracts including agreements with London boroughs such as Barnet and Barking & Dagenham along with South Oxfordshire council – whose phone lines for benefits, council tax payments, and business rates call centers were disrupted by this attack.
Capita spokesperson Jane Smith said: "We take any security incident very seriously." She continued: "Our priority was ensuring our client services experienced minimal impact."
Thankfully though majority of their client services remained intact during this ordeal; virtually all impacted have now been restored following swift actions taken by their cybersecurity team
