Franky Carrillo, a man who was wrongfully convicted of murder at the age of 16 and later exonerated after spending two decades in prison, has announced his candidacy for the United States Congress against incumbent Republican Rep. Mike Garcia (CA-25). Carrillo's inspiring story of resilience and determination to fight injustice has attracted national attention following his feature in the Netflix documentary series "The Innocence Files."
Carrillo is hoping to unseat Garcia and flip the district blue as part of a broader effort by Democrats to reclaim control of the House in 2024.
