Manhattan DA's Office and House Judiciary Committee Settle Court Dispute Over Former Prosecutor's Testimony

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office and the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee have settled a court dispute, allowing former prosecutor Mark Pomerantz to testify in a Congressional probe into the indictment of former President Donald Trump. The two sides acknowledged in statements that a lawyer from the district attorney's office will be able to sit in on the deposition.

This negotiated testimony ends a short-lived battle that escalated to a federal appeals court over whether Pomerantz could share details about his work at the DA’s office before Alvin Bragg brought charges against Trump. This story is breaking and will be updated as more information becomes available.

Attorneys for Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, and ex-prosecutor Mark Pomerantz came to an agreement which enables them to go forward with the testimony scheduled for May 12th. Both Jordan and Trump have alleged that Bragg’s case is driven by political retribution.

Mark Pomerantz resigned from his position at the Manhattan D.A.'s office in February 2022 after working on the Trump investigation for one year. He has since written a memoir about his experiences during this time.

Jim Jordan stated: "We believe it is important for Congress to hear directly from Mr. Pomerantz regarding his work investigating former President Trump." While acknowledging their right to do so, he continues: "However, we also respect the need for confidentiality during ongoing investigations."

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg agreed with these sentiments: "Our goal throughout this process has been ensuring transparency while protecting sensitive information related to our ongoing efforts."

As both parties await further developments following this settlement, all eyes are now focused on what insights Mark Pomerantz may provide during his upcoming congressional testimony.
