Attorney Abbe Lowell has sent letters to the Treasury Department requesting the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate how former Donald Trump loyalists obtained reports of President Joe Biden's alleged "suspicious activity." He also seeks a congressional ethics review of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) due to her public statements against President Joe Biden, which he claims are false and easily debunked.
In his letter, Lowell stated that Greene's conduct reflects poorly on the House and goes far beyond her legislative duties. Additionally, he wrote that former Trump White House official Garrett Ziegler did not have a First Amendment defense for obtaining and publishing confidential Treasury Department records regarding the president's son Hunter Biden. According to Lowell, these actions may have violated the Bank Secrecy Act as interactions with bank employees to obtain protected information violate federal law.
Hunter Biden's legal team has called for an Office of Congressional Ethics review into Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for potential violations of House Ethics rules and official conduct standards following several statements made by the Georgia lawmaker about Hunter Biden and his family.
"Her online statements and public talk about Mr. [Joe] Biden[, Jr.] from her position as a congresswoman are nothing less than a spray of shotgun pellets," said attorney Abbe Lowell in response to accusations made by Rep. Greene.
Furthermore, Hunter Biden's legal counsel requested that the Treasury Department’s Office of Inspector General look into how former Trump White House aide Garrett Ziegler allegedly acquired suspicious activity reports from JP Morgan Chase bank related to Hunter Biden’s financial activities before retaining them on his website.
Given recent incidents involving professional athletes, Hunter Biden has also called for ethical action concerning Marjorie Taylor Green who serves as president at American Football Association (AFA). He argues that decisions within sports communities can significantly impact cities and even entire countries. Biden also highlighted the importance of holding business owners accountable in light of the evolving nature of sports.
Lawyers representing Hunter Biden have asked the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for her "defamatory statements" against President Joe Biden's son, accusing him of being "on crack" and engaging with prostitutes and minors. In a separate letter, attorney Abbe Lowell accused Greene of “unmoored verbal abuses” against Hunter Biden while asking Treasury Department Inspector General to probe how Garrett Ziegler obtained suspicious activity reports from Hunter's bank.
As federal prosecutors stated in October, sufficient evidence exists to charge Hunter Biden with two misdemeanor charges for failing to file his taxes as well as felony charges related to tax evasion and not disclosing a firearm purchase. The chair and co-chair of the committee must agree before opening a preliminary review into these matters.
