President Joe Biden Announces Attendance at British Coronation, First Lady Meets Akshata Murty

President Joe Biden said on Saturday that he had informed the king of his plans to be in the United Kingdom during the summer for the NATO conference. This marks a historic moment as no American president has ever attended a British coronation before. First Lady Jill Biden's first stop was a meeting with Akshata Murty, wife of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

During an MSNBC interview, when asked why voters should choose him over other candidates, President Biden boasted about his extensive experience compared to anyone who had ever run for office. In contrast, former President Donald Trump accused Biden of not being physically well enough to make the journey to the UK and claimed that Trump himself should represent the country instead.

The coronation ceremony is set to take place on Saturday at Westminster Abbey and will be attended by foreign heads of state and dignitaries. During his interview, President Biden defended his son Hunter amid investigations for alleged tax violations and lying on a gun permit application, insisting that Hunter has done nothing wrong.

First Lady Dr. Jill Biden is back in London for a royal engagement with King Charles III following Queen Elizabeth II's passing. She will attend late Queen Elizabeth II's coronation and meet with Akshata Murty to celebrate this historic event while also honoring their countries' special relationship.

In addition to these activities, Jill Biden will participate in a health and wellness program as well as attend a reception hosted by U.S Ambassador Jane Hartley. The first lady has met members of the British royal family several times through her work supporting military veterans; she has interacted with Prince Harry’s brother among others.

President Joe Biden mentioned that he spoke with King Charles III about attending this significant occasion on behalf of their nation during global climate events since taking office last year – including Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral service held last year.

Dr. Jill Biden and her granddaughter Finnegan Biden attended Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's coronation at Buckingham Palace, dressed in blue and white. Joining them were Olena Zelenska, the president's wife, while Jill shared a photo of herself alongside Kate Middleton with captions expressing support for Ukraine.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Jill Biden met with Akshata Murty at Downing Street before catching up with Naomi Biden at the Jonathan Simkhai show. During their conversation, President Joe Biden informed King Charles III that First Lady Jill looks forward to attending this historic event on behalf of the United States.
