In a recent interview, President Joe Biden firmly defended his son, Hunter Biden, who is currently under investigation for alleged tax violations and lying on a gun permit application. Speaking with MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle in his first one-on-one television interview since February, the president insisted that his son has done nothing wrong.
Hunter Biden's business and tax dealings have been under scrutiny for some time now. Congressional Republicans are increasing their efforts to probe into his finances as well as what they refer to as the "Biden crime family." Despite this pressure from the opposition party, President Biden remains steadfast in supporting his 53-year-old son.
During Saturday night's White House Correspondents' Dinner, President Tamara Keith pressed Biden on being more accessible to reporters. The president attended the event amid ongoing discussions about Hunter's legal issues.
In an additional interview that aired Friday night on MSNBC, former President Barack Obama's son was also brought into focus when Stephanie Ruhle questioned him about his age. In response, he defended both himself and his running mate by emphasizing their experience.
Regarding the ongoing Justice Department investigation into Hunter Biden’s conduct, President Joe Biden stated that he would not invoke the 14th Amendment if Congress fails to raise the debt limit – a move that some believe could help avoid financial disaster. The president reiterated during these interviews that he believes in Hunter’s innocence and trusts in their strong father-son bond.
"I trust my son," said President Joe Biden during one of these conversations. He continued by expressing confidence in both the legal process surrounding these investigations and in Hunter’s ability to navigate them successfully: “I know how honest my boy is.”
