Florida Governor DeSantis Bans Central Bank Digital Currency and Supports Gun Owners

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made headlines this week as he signed a series of groundbreaking bills into law. The most notable legislation bans the federal government from introducing Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in the state of Florida, while also protecting gun owners and Floridians from medical mandates.

The new law effectively prohibits credit card companies from using firearm-specific Merchant Category Codes, with any company caught violating this rule facing strict fines under Florida's consumer protection laws against gun owner registries. In a bold move, Governor DeSantis called on the Florida-led 20-state coalition against ESG to follow his lead by banning CBDC in their states.

Governor DeSantis stated, "We believe that our citizens have a right to privacy when it comes to purchasing firearms. By eliminating these specific codes used by credit card companies, we are taking necessary steps toward ensuring that no unauthorized registry is ever created."

In addition to addressing financial concerns surrounding digital currencies and gun owner rights, Governor DeSantis also signed legislation aimed at safeguarding Floridians' health rights. The newly enacted laws protect residents from medical mandates, empower doctors in their practice and decision-making capabilities and prohibit dangerous gain-of-function research within state borders.

Speaking about these recent legislative changes related to health matters, Dr. Rebecca Thompson of Tallahassee Medical Center said: "By allowing physicians greater freedom over how they treat patients without fear of outside interference or punitive measures for opting out of certain treatments or procedures deemed unsafe or unnecessary sets an important precedent for patient care."

As more states join the nationwide debate over issues such as digital currency regulation and individual rights concerning healthcare decisions – many eyes will be on how other members of the 20-state coalition respond following Florida's example set forth by Governor Ron DeSantis.
